I am trying to program a sharp er-a470 so I can track transaction by an identifer that equates to a user. I surmise I do that under dept, but the company who programmed our register is out of business. I understand the flow in the manual once I get to a dept, but figuring out how I identify a Dept to program under (e.g. Dept Number) that is not already in use is the challenge - or is Dept the wrong way to go. I want totals to appear under the identifier and there are not set prices, I want the user to be able to push a button that identifies the dept, enter a $ amount and total, then have the totals appear under the dept on the tape with a dept total.
Well you are on the right track progamming your Sharp Cash Register. However sounds like you want clerk tracking and dept tracking, which of course is fine the machine can do those things.
First set up clerk numbers. Next to enter sales in a department you enter the amount first and then press the dept you want the sale registered in.
Most folks will program a name into the department for reporting and receipts.
Good Luck
