Using a cash register in your business

Don't use your cash register as just a money box. If used correctly a cash register can improve your bottom line by quite a bit while saving you time.

When I go shopping if there is a long line at the cashier and I don't need the item that second I leave and I would avoid that store in the future. Don't let this happen to you, speed up your lines! How you may ask? Well number one is a bar code scanner if you are a retail store, or a large keyboard if food service. Both of these items speed up lines and improve accuracy. Do you want your cashier to enter prices and make all those mistakes and double or triple the time it takes to check out? If you don't think it is important then time it yourself, audit a couple hours of sales to see how accurate your cashiers were.

Integrate your cash register with credit card payments directly! Don't make your cashiers ring up the sale, go to another machine and enter the amount, wait for the processing, go back to the register and finalize the sale. Holy cow you have now made the process so much longer then it needed to be and opened yourself up to massive errors! Don't believe me then audit your cash register and the credit card machine. How many sales for $19.99 were entered into the credit card machine at $0.99 or $9.99 or $0.09 Our customers that have taken our challenge and audited have all integrated the payments and never looked back! When you interface a cash register with payments directly you force accuracy, your ensure the item is registered, you know the sale was settled correctly and you saved massive amounts of time! Both Sharp and SAM4s make cash registers that interface with the Datacap twin Tran. After the interface is done you will have a cash register that accepts credit cards directly saving time and forcing accuracy.

There are many more ways to use a register more efficiently and if you would like to discuss how we can help you with a commercial grade quality cash register call us at 1-800-863-2274 and we would be happy to consult with you.

Sharp cash registers that interface to cerdit card payments

cash register credit card interface
How a cash register credit card interface works
Sharp has several great cash register that interface directly to credit card payments using the Datacap Twin Tran or other Tran models. The reason to interface your cash register directly to credit card payments is accuracy and speed not to mention a massive reduction in fraud.

When you add a Datacap Twin Tran to you Sharp cash register you create a complete system that is designed to make more profit! Isn't that why you got into business, to make a profit? So when you don't integrate your cash register you make it easy for cashiers to run a credit card for $2.95 instead of the $29.95 the sale really was! even if cashiers aren't trying to steal they make mistakes when re-keying an amount into another machine. If you have a busy store I challenge you to audit your receipts from the cash register and match them up with the transactions from your credit terminal. Do they match? Does the cash register say one amount and the daily batch have another? If you are busy and have a medium to high volume then you will find mistakes and probably lots of them!

If you are looking to interface you cash register with credit card payments then call us at 1-800-863-2274 we have been installing cash registers that process credit cards for over ten year.

Now a few environmental issues to figure out

Keyboard covers for Sharp cash registers will keep your machine running and easy to use

cash register keyboard cover

Cash register keyboard cover

Flat keyboard cash registers need to have the overlay (keyboard cover) replaced from time to time. There is no definitive time frame as it all depends on use and environment. If your place is busy and you cook items near the register or allow smoking in your establishment chance are you will need to replace your keyboard cover more often. Having said that I do think once a year is about average for most machines.

Keyboard covers are made for flat restaurant style registers as well as registers designed for retail with raised keys. Of course in food service your machine is facing more dangers but don't forget in the retail world dangers lurk too!

Most keyboard covers no longer cover the key or the credit card reader. There are a few older models that the key area is covered however the key hole is still vulnerable.

Over the years we have seen $20.00 keyboard covers save a machine from spills of everything possible! You can never be too safe and the cost of doing business without a register is far greater then the cost of a cover.

Here are a few places that offer keyboard covers

Need help finding one not listed then call us at 1-800-863-2274

Cash Registers can now have a wireless kitchen printer

wireless kitchen printer adapter
Bluetooth Kitchen Printer Adapter
You can install a kitchen printer on a SAM4s or Sharp cash register without running cables! Use the LM048 Bluetooth Adapter to your cash register and a standard serial kitchen printer.
Eliminate cables and the labor cost to install them. Use the LM048 Adapter anywhere you would ordinarily run a serial (RS-232C) cable. In many applications equipment is located in environments that would normally require a cable run under a floor, or above a ceiling. The expense of an electrician or qualified cable installer may be significantly more than the cost of this simple, reliable wireless device.
  • Run Remote Printers and Other RS-232C Devices Without Wiring
  • Compact, Affordable, and Easy-to-Install
  • Uses Reliable Bluetooth Wireless Technology
  • Range of up to 328 Feet (100m) Without Obstructions

  • The Smallest RS-232C Bluetooth Adaptor Available

How to change sales tax on a Sharp ER-A410

    Sharp ER-A410 cash register

    Sharp ER-A420 cash register

Following is the example to program the tax on a Sharp ER-A410 or ER-A420. The example is for the basic straight tax rate not a tax table. The key must be in the program mode (P or PGM). The reason it says 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 is because these registers can have 4 tax rates at the same time. If programming tax rate one you would enter 1 if tax rate 2 then enter 2 etc etc.

    2711 Decimal @ 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 @ *rate cash

    *six digits: 0.0001 to 99.9999%

Make sure you turn key back to R. Also please understand this does not make your departments of PLU's taxable. It sets the tax rate you still will have to make your items taxable or not by rate 1 or 2 or 3 or 4.

    Sharp ER-A420 keyboard template

When you buy a cash register from a dealer you should make sure you get a template for making your own custom keyboards. The Cash Register Guys have a page with several free keyboard templates downloads.

We always suggest printing a blank template out before you spend two hours laying one out only to find you downloaded the wrong one.

Also keep in mind many of these templates will work on numerous models. Here is a link to the Sharp ER-A420 Keyboard Template which by the way will work on a ER-4900, ER-5100, ER-6500, SER-7000 and many more. Download and print it out first to make sure!

Sharp cash registers that process credit cards

We continue to experience great success installing Sharp cash registers with credit card readers built in. When the Sharp cash register is combined with the Datacap Twin Tran or other Datacap product turns your system into a complete solution saving you time and money.

Many of the Sharp registers will interface to credit card payments as well as gift cards. The question we also get is will the SAM4s process with Brand X processor like First Data, Chase, or other big brand names. The simple answer is yes in every case I have seen in the last 5 years we can interface with all the major networks.

    Commercial grade cash registers

When you are looking for a cash register you may want to skip the big box stores and head to a dealer that offer commercial grade equipment. Every day we receive calls from people that have bought registers from a big box store and have no idea how to use it, program it or fix it. Every day we have to tell these callers that we can't support registers that we don't sell and in the case of the Sharp XE models or the Casio PCR models we don't offer support period.

So make sure if service and support is important that you buy your cash register from a source where you can get help. Also remember that help is not always free especially if you did not buy the register from the company you are calling.

Get ready for the holiday sales season

Make the most of the holiday sale season by making sure your POS or cash register system is suitable to handle more customers while keeping your money secure! A poorly designed cash register system does not stop error entry mistakes and does little to stopping cashiers from helping themselves to your hard earned money.

What are some of the steps you can take to improve your business and security?
    • Add another cash register or POS terminal so you can get customers moved through the line! I for one will leave if store lines are long and most often will avoid that store in the future
    • Interface your cash register and credit card payments to stop entry errors and cashiers stealing from you.
    • Implement bar code scanning if you can it's faster and improved pricing accuracy.

Will my cash register process credit cards?

Today most cash register can take credit cards directly which is the most secure and efficient way to operate.

When you interface credit card payments directly to a cash register you benefit in many ways. First and foremost you will all but eliminate entry errors in the payment field. When you have not interfaced payments to the register you run the risk of a cashier entering the sale into the credit card terminal incorrectly. As an example lets say the sale total is $19.95 and the cash enters $9.95 or $0.95 on the credit card machine. You just lost all of your profit and then some. If you don't believe those happens then you should audit your cash register transactions to your credit card transactions. It may take you a couple hours but it could also show you how you are losing thousands of dollars due to entry error.

Another pleasant side effect of interfacing payments directly to the cash register is reducing fraud. It has long been a practice of bad cashiers not to register credit card transactions on the cash register but enter them on the credit card machine. Then when they have a cash transaction for the same amount they ring that one up and close out to credit card and then pocket the cash from the transaction they did not ring up. The register will still balance! But when you have an interfaced system the cashiers can't run a credit card without first ringing up a sale for the correct amount.

    Cash register or POS?

We hear this question all the time "Should I buy a cash register or a POS system? Well the answer depends on your needs of course and budget.

We do often see people buy very expensive POS systems that have more features then anyone will ever use and probably spent $5000.00 to $10,000.00 more then they would have with a cash register system.

Cash registers and POS both do most of the same "sale" functions, like ring up specific items, charge tax, compute change issue a receipt etc. Often a cash register can do these things much much faster.

Where a cash register and POS start to separate is in the reporting. Cash registers do not store sales by date and time where a POS does. Inventory tracking widens the gap even more. Registers count how many of something you have sold but will not or do a poor job of actually tracking inventory. If you want reports of what to order based on min and max and current stock then hands down POS only.

The cost of ownership is almost always cheaper for a register then a POS system.

Give it a lot of thought before pulling the trigger on either one! Need help with the choice? Call us 1-800-863-2274

Do you want to print your own cash register keyboard templates?

Today's technology now allows you to create your own custom keyboard templates for cash registers. Whether it is a SAM4s, Sharp or Casio you can now create new keyboard overlays with MS Word or Excel whenever you like.

In the good old days your dealer would have a proprietary software and printer that created these keyboard. Believe me because I once paid $1500.00 for a custom software package and plotter to make keyboards and that was when $1500.00 was a lot of money (1985)!

Here are several cash register keyboard templates available for free down load. I always advise people to print a blank one first to test for size, also make sure you printer is not shrinking to fit and almost every register will need legal size paper not letter size!

Are cash register made in the USA?

A very long time ago all cash registers used to be Made in the USA however all that changed back in the 1980's along with so many other things! The technology has improved, the functions and features have improved but the manufacturing has all been moved overseas. at first most were made in Japan however over the years I have seen most if not all to South Korea, although for a short while I think the Samsung register were assembled in Mexico.

Do you know how to use your cash register Z reports?

Cash register reports are grossly miss-understood. In this age of endless complex reporting and analytics from websites and computers people expect the same from a cash register.

So the first miss conceptions to tackle is that cash registers know the date. Cash registers do in fact print the date and time on receipts and reports but that is where it ends. Cash registers do not associate sales to dates and time, they simply print the date and time and know when to roll it over.

So with that in mind lets look at so called daily reports. The only reason they are daily reports is because you take them daily, should you forget a day it will be combined with the next day. All cash registers sales are really period to date. Most registers do have several report levels known as Z1 and Z2 or Daily and Monthly. However remember it is only daily or monthly if taken daily and monthly. Here is how they work. A Z1 or daily is the first level of report. Example lets say you use the machine Saturday and at the end of the day you take the report or reports (will get into type of reports later). When you take the Z1 it will print the info and reset it back to zero, as well as take that data and dump it into the Z2 totals. Yes that is correct sales do not count in Z2 until a Z1 has been taken! So now Sunday you take another Z1 at the end of the day, that will be the sales from after the Z1 Saturday to right then, again that data is then added to the Z2 totals. OK now you forget to take a report on Monday night and you realize it Tuesday night and you think OK I'll just take the Monday report and the Tuesday report! NOPE both days have been added together now. When you take the report Tuesday night it will now be all the sales from the time you Z'd out Sunday night to right then, and again it will add to the Z2 at that point.

OK so now you want the monthly report or Z2. First make sure you have taken the last Z1 of the month you want (remember days to not add to Z2 until the daily Z1 is taken. So now you take the Z2 and it will be the entire period of time's sales from the last time you took the report. So if you last took the report May 1st before you did a Z1 on May 1st and it is now June 1st before you have taken the Z1 for June 1 the report will contain all the sales of May. Make sense? If you take that report every two months then it will be a bi-monthly report, take it every three months it will be the quarterly reports, take it every six months it will be a bi annual report. Get it?

What you should take away from this.
    • All cash register reports are period to date, they total from last report to present report.
    • Cash registers print date and time but don't report or filter by it.
Also once a Z report is taken you CAN NEVER reprint it! Lose the paper report you lose the report forever!

I hope that helps you understand cash register reports. Both SAM4s cash registers and Sharp Cash Registers work the same, yes they have different reports available but the Z1 and Z2 works the same way!

Sharp ER-A410 in short supply! Make that NO SUPPLY!

    Sharp ER-A410 cash register
    Sharp ER-A410 cash register

The Sharp ER-A410 cash register has been a best seller now for quite awhile. Currently (July, 2013) however the Sharp ER-A410 cash register is on back order from the Sharp company. I have tried every distributor we know of in the US and everyone is sold out. Everyone we have spoken to regarding this problem claims that Sharp will have more in the US in mid to late September. Given this news should you need another ER-A410 in the short term you will either have to wait it out or switch to a different model or even a different make?

In the Sharp family there are a couple choices. The first is the Sharp ER-A347 cash register which comes out of the box with 20 departments, has both a receipt and journal printer and a nicer display than the ER-A420 register. The ER-A347 can not have a Datacap Twintran credit card interface like the A420. The A347 also used 2.25" thermal paper instead of 44mm thermal like the 420.

The next choice is the Sharp ER-A520 cash register, little larger then the A410, receipt and journal, standard 2 line display, large cash drawer and will interface with the Datacap Twin Tran.

You can also look at the SAM4s brand of cash registers which have lots of very popular models. Need help selecting a replacement model? call us at 1-800-863-2274

    Sharp cash register keyboard templates

It is very easy to change the keyboard on your Sharp cash register when you have a keyboard template. You can find Sharp cash register keyboard template for download, which will allow you to change and re-print when ever you like or just when you make changes. Don't pay a cash register dealer big bucks for a print out and do it yourself.

If you can't find the model you need try printing one from a model that is close and see if it fits. You will be surprised how many keyboards are the same, however in case it does not print then you might be able to alter the template you downloaded.

    Sharp ER-A320 registers are gone

Sharp cash registersOn Friday the 12th we sold our last Sharp ER-A320 cash register. Bitter sweet day because that was one of the best selling Sharp cash registers we have ever sold however compared with the newest machines it was quite dated. Sharp has still not come out with a specific replacement model for it yet.

When Sharp ended the ER-A320 they ended production of any register that uses bond receipt paper. All of the current Sharp models use thermal paper.

We still have supplies like the IR-90 ink roller and the 44mm bond paper as well as the keyboard cover. If you need help programming we do offer phone support for a fee 1-800-863-2274

Ink Roller for the Sharp ER-A320 and ER-A330

The recently retired workhorse of the Sharp cash register line up the ER-A320 uses an ink roller and 44mm bond paper in the printer. Both the paper and the ribbons have been harder to find lately as so many registers use thermal printers now.

We still have both the paper and the ink rollers in stock. Click the following link for the Sharp ER-A320 ink roller and then here for the Sharp ER-A320 paper.

If you have never changed an ink roller before please pay attention to the old one and how it is installed before you remove it so you can install the new one.

As long as you store the rollers in a moderate temp they have a great shelf life.

while you are getting the rollers and paper don't forget the Sharp ER-A320 keyboard covers while you are at it.

Where to buy a good Sharp Cash Register

    Sharp Cash Registers
    Sharp Cash Registers
First thing to remember before you buy a Sharp cash register is that they make two different lines. The first is the consumer grade disposable grade XE models. In most cases do not buy an XE model if you want a durable commercial grade cash register. The heavy duty commercial grade cash register line starts with either an ER or a UP for example a Sharp ER-A420 is a popular machine in the ER line.

All most all of the ER and UP models can interface to credit card payments with the Datacap Twin Tran, have optional computer interface, kitchen printers, bar code scanners and more.

There are some great places online to buy your register from

Which is the right cash register for you? Sharp or SAM4s?

Well first point is both of these are great cash registers. Both have some very strong points to be made for them. Not really fair to compare however because the Sharp ER-A420 has been around a long time before some of the newest features of the SAM4s SPS-320 was being used in the industry.

Both cash registers feature a large flat keyboard. The SAM4s keyboard is a little large. Both can interface to credit card payments with the Datacap Twin Tran, both can interface to PC Poll cash register software.

the Sharp ER-A420 has a history of being incredibly durable and is a heavy duty machine for sure. The SAM4s line up as a whole has a great track record of being reliable.

Couple huge advantages of the SAM4s SPS-320 include the SD card port for program back up and flash ROM upgrades, free software and the eight line LCD display.

If I already had the Sharp ER-A420 I would stick with them for a while since you would have no learning curve with operations, if starting with a cash register for the first time go with the SAM4s.

Any questions about which cash register is best for you then give us a call 1-800-863-2274

    Sharp ER-A347 cash register

    Sharp ER-A347 cash register

    Sharp ER-A347 cash register

The Sharp ER-A347 is an interesting machine for a couple good reasons. this register includes a software programming tool that uses an SD card to transfer the program to the register and back to the computer. Part of this program includes a Quickbook transfer tool allowing sales from the cash register to be interfaced with Quickbooks. This is also the only register that I know of that interfaces to a standalone credit card machine instead of using a Datacap or Pax like many other registers do.

You also will notice on this register it has a multi line display making task like programming and reporting a breeze compared to other makes and models.

If you need a simple cash register put this one on the top of your list. If you have questions regarding the Sharp ER-347 cash register or any other commercial grade register give us a call at 1-800-863-2274

    Commercial grade Sharp cash registers

There are two great brands of commercial grade cash registers and they are SAM4s and Sharp. Both of these companies make cash registers designed for medium and higher volume stores and restaurants. In today's sluggish economy it is even more important then ever to maximise your profit and cut cost. Well cutting cost on your cash register system may save you a few bucks but it will cost you in profit. Why you ask? Well because a good cash register will do the following

    • Increase customer through put. You make a customer wait in line to long and they don't come back or the leave in the first place.
    • Commercial grade registers are capable of four sales tax rates. You may only have one today but revenue hungry states, counties and cities keep inventing new sales tax rates. You could end up charging two or maybe four rates in one transaction!
    • Interface credit card payments with your cash register reduces fraud, stops expensive ten key errors and speeds up lines!
    • A good cash register will produce detailed sales reports daily and monthly saving you expensive time compiling reports for sales taxes etc.
There are a lot more reason but those are some of the top. Here is a good place to buy a Sharp cash register however you should make sure and check out the SAM4s Cash Registers before you buy any of them. Need help then give us a call 1-800-863-2274

    Sharp Cash Registers

    sharp cash registers
There are quite a few different models and line of Sharp Cash Registers. First there is the consumer grade line up that are models that begin with XE and then you have the commercial grade line that are models beginning with ER or UP.

If you need support over the long run DO NOT buy an XE model. Yes you may save money but we hear from people nearly every day that can't use their XE model cash register and can't get Sharp to help them.

When you buy a commercial grade register from a dealer like our company you can get support from the dealer. It may or may not be free but a dealer can help you with tax rate changes, printer repairs and many other common problems. If you need help with a commercial grade Sharp cash register even if you did not buy from us we can support it for you. It would not be free however our techs know Sharp's very well and you can reach us at 1-800-863-2274 We specialize in interfacing cash registers to credit card payments with the the Datacap Twin Tran

Do you need help programming a cash register? Did your sales tax increase and you don't know how to change it? Well we can help but before you call please be aware that our support is not free? There are many cash registers in the big box stores that we CAN'T help with because we lack the manuals. Call us with the make and model and we will let you know right away if we can help. Sharp cash register support after the sale

Make sure when you are looking for a new cash register that you think about service after the sale. I find the average life span for a good cash register 5 to  7 years depending on the working environment (That does not mean they all last 5 year plus) and I have seen many last 10+ no problem.

Your new register is something you will have for a long time over many different sales tax increases, numerous employees and managers. If you walk into a big box store and buy a register who is going to help you with it in the future? Every day I have people calling me to change a tax rate on a cheap cash register they bought at the big box store and they want me to tell them how to change the tax rate for free! NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, call the big box store you bought it from. So if support is important then buy from a real cash register dealer like us who supports the registers they sell and often at no cost (not all services and support is free anywhere)

There are only three commercial grade cash register brands in the US and probably Canada too. They are SAM4s, Sharp and Casio. Of those our favorite is SAM4s because of price and features, followed by Sharp and lastly Casio.

All three of the big three manufactures offer cash registers that interface to credit card payments with the Datacap Twin Tran, DVR, Kitchen Printers, PC's and more.

Give us a call at 1-800-863-2274 if you need help selecting and buying a new Sharp cash register.

    SAM4s SPS-520FT cash register

    SAM4s SPS-520FT cash register

    SAM4s SPS-520FT Cash Register

The SAM4s SPS-520FT cash register is one of the most popular registers in the powerful SPS-500 series line up. The SPS-520FT like all the models of the 500 line features both a traditional cash register keyboard as well as a 7" color touch screen. When combined in one machine the keyboard and screen must make the best selling Hybrid cash register on the market.

This register serves a great niche market where so many business owners are being forced to buy a large expensive POS system find the SPS-500 series will do the job at a fraction of the cost. Not only is this option less expensive but you also won't miss the features that most of us really need. This machine will operate very well in table service, bars, fast food, cafeterias and many other food service operations.

One unique feature of the machine is the ability to interface the cash register to credit card payments while also adding a private label gift card system. This works by using the datacap TwinTran interface with the register.

Because of the large screen this register is very easy to program and use when compared to traditional cash registers. You do not need a back office computer for this system however you can add one as an option if you wish.

Save time and money with this hybrid system call us for more details 1-800-863-2274

Don't wait to buy your cash register

So you are investing a great deal of money opening your new business, maybe you are going into debt to open your dream store or restaurant. You are making sure you sell great products, have a great staff, your signage looks great because you spared no expense!

Well then don't wait for the last minute and buy a cheap cash register of POS system like so many people do. All of the return on your investment is going to come through your cash register or POS system. The cashiers will be handling all of that money before you get it back! The cashiers will tell the customers what they owe for their purchases. Do you want to risk that to a cheap cash register or POS system that lacks the proper controls? Would you use a bank that store your money in a cigar box and had lax security and record keeping? Of course you would not.

Lets talk about cashiers first. Yes most of your employees will be great honest folks that work hard! I know you don't want to hear this but I'm going to tell you anyway. You are going to hire someone soon if you have not already that is going to steal as much as they can from you while smiling and looking like a great employee! Yes I already know you are going to say not my employees they are like family! I have heard it all before and unfortunately every time I think I have seen it all before a client will come to us for help finding out where their money is going! I have had clients tell me there is no way an employee would do that as I show them in black and white how their employees are stealing from them and they don't believe me. I have seen many of those same people close up shop because they are not making enough money to keep the doors open.

So before you buy that $129.00 cash register at the big box store keep this in mind. Look at the list below for some important things to look for in a cash register
    • You want a cash register that interfaces to credit card payments.
    • If you are a retail store consider bar code scanning to ensure the correct price is registered for the item being sold.
    • Make certain your cash register is capable of 4 sales tax rates.
    • Make sure you can get support for your cash register over time. Sales tax rates change all the time! You don't want to find out at the end of the year you under collected sales tax on a million dollars in sales do you?
    • Understand your sales reports and the built in security features.
Did you know the cash register was invented by a bar owner that knew his bartenders were stealing from him! The only thing that has changed is the technology! Need help call us at 1-800-863-2274

Sharp cash register with bar code scanning

Sharp makes many different cash registers that support bar code scanning. Some can have more UPC's then others but most can scan.

Make certain you plan for the number of UPC code you will need before you buy your new cash register. Also keep in mind that many cash register can have their memory expanded, the procedure will erase the current database of UPC codes so make sure you have a method to back up the program if you do not want to recreate the file.

Also make sure you select a barcode scanner that suits your store best. A high volume store like a c-store perhaps should look at an omni directional scanner. If you are not as high volume a single line scanner may work great for you!

If you will be managing a large UPC file you may also want to invest in polling and programming software such as PC Poll that allows you do manage your file on a PC instead of directly on the cash register.

Take a look at the Sharp cash registers that offer bar code scanning or give us a call at 1-800-863-2274 for help selecting the right one for your business.

    Cash registers designed for restaurants

There are quite a few great cash registers for restaurants from SAM4s and Sharp. You do need to take consideration of the type of restaurant and the way you operate. Some cash registers are more suited for quick service restaurants and some for table service. Other considerations are how many cash registers you will have, do you want you cash register interfaced to credit card payments, kitchen printer, kitchen video etc.

For quick service restaurants that only need one cash register here are a few good models
Keep in mind that all the machines listed below will also work for a one cash register business however the registers listed above may not be suitable for multi register installations if IRC is required.

Here is a list of cash registers that work great in multi register quick service or table service restaurants that wish to operate w guest check system.
The difference between the two groups of registers is that the second group all have the IRC feature and the ability to have guest checks. Both groups have cash registers can use the Datacap Twin Tran for credit card interface.

    Sharp ER-A347 cash register review

    Sharp ER-A347 cash register
    Sharp ER-A347 cash register
One of the newest models of commercial cash registers from Sharp is the ER-A347 and it is starting to make some waves. Sharp made some major steps with this entry level cash register. First they added an eight line LCD display that cashiers will love and so will whoever is having to program  it! The display allows the operator to see more detail and makes programming menu driven and a snap.

Receipt and journal make finding over rings easy and much better then an EJ most machines come with now. You will also like the SD card port as it allows you to transfer data from the register toi a computer and even program your entire cash register that computer and transfer to the register. One of the biggest new features however is the Quick Books transfer tool that is included. This cash register interfaces to Quick Books and is the only one I'm aware of that is included as a standard feature. The second biggest inovation is the credit card interface with a stand alone terminal that I don't hink has ever been done before.

I give the Sharp ER-A347 cash register a 5 out of 5 stars for an entry level cash register at a great price. For more information call us at 1-800-863-2274

    Sharp ER-A530 cash register review

    sharp er-a530 cash register
    Sharp ER-A530 cash register
Sharp makes quite a few commercial grade cash registers but a few really stand out from the rest. One of those stand outs is the Sharp ER-A530 cash register. Designed for food service the ER-A530 features a large flat keyboard with ample room for at least one hundred one touch menu items. This machine is equipped with a two station printer with both a receipt and journal printer. The receipt can be turned off and issued on demand if you would like.

Here are some other pros of the ER-A530
Here are a few things it does not have although Sharp makes larger models to address these needs
    • No IRC
    • Two line display instead of larger 8 line or touch display
The ER-A530 has a great price point and has proven to be a very durable model and should last for years if taken care off in a decent environment.

As far as ease of programming it is right in the middle of the road maybe leaning to harder then average. The reason a few other machines are easier is because they have a larger display then the ER-A530 allowing for more of a menu driven experience.

    Sharp ER-A320 Ink Roller

    Sharp ER-A320 ink roller
    Sharp ER-A320 Ink Roller
We stock the paper and ink roller for the Sharp ER-A320 and for the ER-A330. They use the same size paper and the same ink roller. Make sure you never try and re-ink that roller, always replace it with a new one. Also keep paper in both the receipt side and the journal side as operating the register without one of them will destroy the cash register.

We also carry the A320 keyboard cover and the cash drawer insert for it! Great machine and if you take care of it I have seen them last 10+ years!

Give us a call at 1-800-863-2274 to buy A320 supplies or buy them online.
