How to change sales tax on a Sharp ER-A410

Sharp ER-A410 cash register

Sharp ER-A420 cash register

Following is the example to program the tax on a Sharp ER-A410 or ER-A420. The example is for the basic straight tax rate not a tax table. The key must be in the program mode (P or PGM). The reason it says 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 is because these registers can have 4 tax rates at the same time. If programming tax rate one you would enter 1 if tax rate 2 then enter 2 etc etc.

2711 Decimal @ 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 @ *rate cash

*six digits: 0.0001 to 99.9999%

Make sure you turn key back to R. Also please understand this does not make your departments of PLU's taxable. It sets the tax rate you still will have to make your items taxable or not by rate 1 or 2 or 3 or 4.

Sharp ER-A420 keyboard template

When you buy a cash register from a dealer you should make sure you get a template for making your own custom keyboards. The Cash Register Guys have a page with several free keyboard templates downloads.

We always suggest printing a blank template out before you spend two hours laying one out only to find you downloaded the wrong one.

Also keep in mind many of these templates will work on numerous models. Here is a link to the Sharp ER-A420 Keyboard Template which by the way will work on a ER-4900, ER-5100, ER-6500, SER-7000 and many more. Download and print it out first to make sure!

Sharp cash registers still in short supply

Sharp cash registers are still back ordered almost everywhere. We were able to get a small order in but they were all sold before they arrived and we still have people needing to order more.

Seems like the ER-A347 and the ER-A247 are in stock but some very popular models like the ER-A410 still a month out maybe longer.

Try looking at a SAM4s cash register as all models are in stock and shipping right away.

Sharp cash register programming

The cash register guys can help with most of your programming needs for your Sharp or SAM4s cash registers. We can help you change your sales tax, receipt logo, departments and more. We can even help with more advanced functions like credit card interface using the Datacap TwinTran, kitchen printers, integrated scales and computer interface. We do not support Sharp models starting with the letters XE. We do support models that begin with ER, or UP

So yes we can do all this but please don't call and expect to have someone get on the phone with you to solve your problems at no cost. We have to charge for our services in order to have technicians on staff to do all this. If you bought your cash register here I'll always provide limited support for free and often that will take care of the issue. If you did not buy your cash register here you are still welcome to call just have your credit card ready. To arrange support call 1-800-863-2274

Sharp cash registers are in short supply

Sharp cash registers are in very short supply. We have been unable to get models ER-A410, and the ER-A520 for quite some time. We are now being told they may show up in late October 2013 if you need a cash register in the meanwhile try looking at a SAM4s cash register as they seem to have plenty of stock.

Sharp cash registers that process credit cards

We continue to experience great success installing Sharp cash registers with credit card readers built in. When the Sharp cash register is combined with the Datacap Twin Tran or other Datacap product turns your system into a complete solution saving you time and money.

Many of the Sharp registers will interface to credit card payments as well as gift cards. The question we also get is will the SAM4s process with Brand X processor like First Data, Chase, or other big brand names. The simple answer is yes in every case I have seen in the last 5 years we can interface with all the major networks.

Commercial grade cash registers

When you are looking for a cash register you may want to skip the big box stores and head to a dealer that offer commercial grade equipment. Every day we receive calls from people that have bought registers from a big box store and have no idea how to use it, program it or fix it. Every day we have to tell these callers that we can't support registers that we don't sell and in the case of the Sharp XE models or the Casio PCR models we don't offer support period.

So make sure if service and support is important that you buy your cash register from a source where you can get help. Also remember that help is not always free especially if you did not buy the register from the company you are calling.
